THE BATTLE FOR HEARTS AND MINDS PRESS RELEASE:

Savvy, AKA Asaviour, releases his long anticipated LP the Battle For Hearts & Minds featuring guest appearances from a range of artist & musicians like Aisha Zoe, DJ IQ aka Luke Storey, Lisa Luxx, Ben Maron, Malcolm Carson, Therealdemo, Dj Madhandz, Joh1st, Jade America, and more… In Savvy’s words: “It’s a look at the state of the world: at our battle for power, control, for sanity & clarity.   “ I guess I’m questioning: what’s your battle? What are you dealing with? Why’s this the case? …The lyrics in the tracks relate to these questions in complex ways. They’re split between logic and emotion.”

Throughout the LP we see Savvy’s own personal and political musings. The lyrics open us up to ideas in order to provide us with food for thought, to begin to open up our own questions, provoke new thoughts and ideas. Simply, to open our minds.  The album begins with the words of spoken word artist, Lisa Luxx which pre empt the tone for this musical journey. She states: “ The world has stalled”.,  between tracks she guides the listener through the album. Her poetry connects the recurring themes between the tracks and works in dialogue with them.

Savvy’s new LP has become both a vessel for knowledge and also a place to inspire. Interestingly, the album is a return from a long hiatus, after years of a love and hate relationship with hip hop, In the end, staying true to his original love for music, he has created a body of work that transcends mundane questions of value and claims of status to offer us a piece that is undoubtedly human. Giving a critical (albeit, uncensored) look at our flaws, our nature, our manipulation, our hopes, fears, successes, our love, hate, namely, our contradictions. He is asking the listener to follow him on this journey of questioning our own humanity and what we do with it. What we can do to better ourselves as individuals and as a society as a whole. And how we can win this battle over our hearts and minds, to achieve… What, exactly? You’ll have to listen to find out.

THE A LOOP THEORY PRESS RELEASE:

ASAVIOUR & DJ IQ PRESENT: THE A – LOOP THEORY LP
アセビア&DJ IQ プレゼンツ:A-ループセオリー LP

Huddersfield born Emcee/Producer Asaviour aka Savvy has single handily cemented himself as one of the strongest artists within the UK Hip Hop scene today. With a fresh original approach to rhyming, an untouchable flow with a twist on content and how it’s delivered sets him apart from most of his more “traditional” counterparts. In 2007 he branched out with his own label “Saving Grace Music” to showcase “the future sounds” that were progressing from his stable. His productions skills place him far ahead of the pack and have taken him out of the hip hop scene allowing him to collaborate with a number of major artists in the music industry for instance: Claudia Kennaugh and many more.

DJ IQ is a DMC Champ from Northwest London he has made a transition from Dj to Super Producer and has been making huge waves in the scene. This man has been making beats for practically every gifted artist in this country supplying production to and many more. His “Live from the sofa” LP has gone down a storm, receiving rave reviews from Mojo, Dazed & Confused, Hip Hop Connection, DJ Mag.

“The A Loop Theory” is a collaborative project between Asaviour & DJ IQ who has combined both their production skills with an album of epic proportions to create an eclectic soundscape rooted in Hip Hop but incorporating Soul, Funk, Electronica, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Grime, Dubstep and R&B.

This album takes risks, pushes boundaries and experiments with sounds which aren’t normally heard in a hip hop song but somehow they work. It’s a huge leap forward musically and lyrically, another benchmark has been set, the envelope has been pushed, Prepare yourself for “The A Loop Theory”

THE BORROWED LADDER PRESS RELEASE:

You know him as Jehst’s partner in crime and from this string of Hip Hop hits: ‘People Under the Weather’, ‘Adventures in New Bohemia (remix)’, ‘Monotony’, ‘Money in the Bank’ and of course ‘The Homecoming’.

Since his phenomenal entrance into the UK hip hop game in 2001 it’s been nothing but heat from the big man from Huddersfield, receiving airplay from DJs like Giles Peterson (Radio 1), Excalibah, Ras Kwame (1Xtra), Dan Greenpeace, (Xfm) and performing alongside DJ Cash Money, Goldie Looking Chain, Q-Bert and Non Phixion.

Now it’s time for Asaviour to take a step forward with his debut CD album & Vinyl EP Borrowed Ladder.

Born and raised in West Yorkshire, Asaviour made his vinyl debut in 1999 on Jehst’s classic first release ‘Premonitions’. From there he moved to Manchester and started working on demos with Manhester artists like The Microdisiacs. Fast forward to 2002 and his migration to London allowed him to link with artists like Verb T, Ghost, Kyza, Yungun, DJ IQ, LG, and Braintax. He made his stamp on the club smash ‘People Under the Weather’ by Jehst and featured on his LP ’Falling Down’ as well as the Tommy Evans LP.
Linking with Low Life Records for his debut solo release the ‘Savoir Faire’ EP (which contained the ‘Money In The Bank’ track) brought him a new level of light and it was only a matter of time before Big Asav applied his staggering level of graft to finishing an album.

‘Borrowed Ladder’ boasts guest vocals from, Braintax, Micall Parkinson, Kyza, Yungun and Jehst and heavy production from Evil Ed, Mr Thing, DJ IQ, Ghost, Jehst and Asaviour himself.

A diverse album that embraces all types of Hip Hop, it still swings easily from the warm emotion of Evil ED’s ‘Field of Dreams’ to the raw fury of ‘Bangers N Mash’. Asaviour also rolls out more of his own production on the tracks ‘Konfessions’, a clever trumpet and bass driven double-time track, and ‘Gameface’, in our humble opinion one of the most original tracks to come out of the UK Hip Hop contingent. The gigantic title track produced by Ghost tells of an emcee “Just trying to live, keep my head above water! ” and that says a lot about this Yorkshire man, pure graft and determination, with a fondness for his Northern roots and a sense of humour to match, not to mention evident intelligence – those who know Low life know we don’t do empty headed music.
Final mention must go to the contribution of two of the UK’s best Hip Hop Djs: ‘Drama Thing’ produced by Mr Thing, is a brutal spit-fest letting us know just how good Asaviour can really RAP! Whereas DJ IQ’s ‘Lust Letters’ is an x-rated cinematic romp through the underbelly of UK nightlife, analysing kudos and the karma sutra; hot!

This album delivers musically, lyrically and emotionally, lovingly crafted by an artist that loves his music. Enjoy.
